Facing the Future
Teaching Resources for K-12

Facing the Future is an international leader in curriculum focused on global issues and sustainability. As a program of Western Washington University, Facing the Future’s mission is to create tools for educators that equip and motivate students to develop critical thinking skills, build global awareness, and discover positive solutions for a sustainable future. Facing the Future reaches over 1.5 million students through its programming.

To deliver the most relevant, up-to-date information possible, we are constantly developing and revising our curriculum, while also providing complementary resources through our bi-monthly blog. This past year, Facing the Future launched a new sustainability and global issues series for grades 9-12: Big World, Small Planet. In addition, with support from the Dragonfly Fund, Facing the Future launched a new edition of Global Issues and Sustainable Solutions. Most recently, was the revision of Exploring Global Issues: Social, Economic, and Environmental Interconnections. The revision offers a more inclusive look at gender with a new discussion of gender equity issues, and revised teaching materials that focus on the latest materials and resources available for secondary teachers.

Thanks to donors like the Dragonfly Fund, Facing the Future has been able to expand its reach this past year, by donating curriculum to students who would not otherwise be able to access our curriculum. Truthfully, we could not do this without our generous donors. This Give Big Day, we humbly ask for your financial support. Your gift will be put to work to develop new curriculum, as well as help us pay it forward and donate curriculum to communities in need.
